Rotmeter privacy policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026 (friends features) · App: Rotmeter (com.lazycode.rotmeter) · Developer: Lazycode
Rotmeter counts the reels and shorts you scroll and shows the number in a floating bubble. What the app sees in your other apps never leaves your phone. If you choose to sign in to battle friends, a small amount of data is synced, described below.
What we collect
Without signing in: nothing. Rotmeter works fully without an account and then sends no personal or device data anywhere.
If you sign in with Google (optional, only to battle friends), we store, using Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore, servers in India, asia-south1):
- your Google account's name, email address, profile photo link and a user ID, from Google Sign-In;
- a six-letter invite code we create for you;
- one number per day: how many reels you counted that day (no per-app counts, no watch time, nothing about what you watched);
- the list of friends you connected with by invite code.
Your name, photo and daily count are visible only to the friends you connected with. We never sell or share this data, and use it only to show friend leaderboards. If you install from a friend's invite link, the code in that link is read once (Google Play Install Referrer) to connect you.
Deleting it: (how to delete your account) in the app, Settings → Account → Delete account erases your profile, invite code, synced daily counts, friendships and the account itself. You can also email us to delete it.
Accessibility Service
Rotmeter uses Android's Accessibility Service API, and only after you read an in-app explanation and switch it on yourself in Android settings. It uses it to:
- notice which app is on screen, so the floating counter shows only in reel apps (if you choose that);
- notice when you swipe to the next reel or short in the apps you choose to count (such as Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and Snapchat);
- show the floating counter and, if you turn it on, a full-screen wall when you reach your daily reel limit.
It reads scroll events and the ids of on-screen views in those apps only to tell a reels player from a normal feed. It does not read or store your messages, the text or video you watch, passwords or anything you type, and it does not record the screen. Each swipe becomes a single number; nothing else is kept.
What stays on your phone
- Your reel count per day and per app, for the last 60 days, plus an all-time total.
- Your settings: counter mode and position, daily limit, and which apps to count.
These are saved in the app's private storage on your device. Uninstalling Rotmeter deletes them. You can also clear today's count in the app.
Ads, analytics and accounts
Rotmeter shows no ads and contains no analytics or tracking SDKs. An account is optional and only needed for the friends features.
Children
Rotmeter is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information. The friends features require a Google account.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
